New York City's top immigration judge has reportedly been fired for allegedly conspiring with another judge who fired three fellow judges in 2014 to overturn immigration courts' ban on sending convicted aliens back to their countries of origin.
In a May 2015 New York Post piece claiming that the trio conspired to overturn New York City's policy on illegal alien removals, Judge Matthew Sciarrino says "the federal immigration courts are going broke" because of funding issues and a lack of expertise, claiming that "there is no need" for the policy.
The Post piece further claims, "In the days before Sciarrino's ouster, immigration judges in New York City received a memo that outlined plan for a judicial strike against broad immigration policy change, saying prosecutors and court officials had been ordered to halt enforcing the provision."
Judge Matthew Sciarrino was scheduled to retire in July 2015, prompting a wave of negative media attention, and was reportedly the second judge in two weeks to be terminated.
In the story, Sciarrino, 49, is accused of sending immigration authorities an email titled "Judge Proposes Judge Strike Against Obama's New Immigration Agenda"
